I know it is lost

Amiable personality

Enviable azure eyes

Miscellanies 120 - He knows us

Is it not wonderful that the Lord takes time to know us? Not only does he have omniscience knowledge, that is to know everything there is to know without any effort or exertion, yet it is written in the psalms that He searches out our path and our lying down and is acquainted with all of our ways, Psalm 139.  There is a personal touch to this knowledge. It is not cold but warm, like a lover’s delight in knowing the ways of their beloved. He searches us and pursues to know our ways and not with a reluctant heart but a willing one. We know how sweet it is when we are besotted with a soul, and all we want is to know everything about them or for them to know everything about us. Indeed, I want to know when she lies down and when she rises, when she has coffee and when she gyms and what hour is her favorite in the day. In short, I would love to be acquainted with all of her ways because it brings me joy. Of course, many have used this kind of knowledge with evil intent, but it is not so with God. He searches out all of our ways individually so that he can lead each one uniquely. And we know that when someone takes the care in knowing us, especially the ones we love, that such knowledge is often too wonderful for us, that it is a delight and leads us to love them more. It is so with God, to think that He humbles Himself to know our ways should cause us to see his fatherly tenderly love and love him all the more.

We are to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. We are not to be strong in our own strength as if to rely on ourselves and in our own ability. The Christian in every turn should delight in his own weakness and boast of the strength of Christ. I have seen the world promote self strength, that is that it is themselves alone that will make them stand in all situations, but the Christian is the opposite. We do not stand in our own strength nor in the strength of others, no matter how many people come together, we do not stand in that strength but in the strength of the Lord. And this strength of the Lord is the strongest there is. For no matter how strong a man may think he is, there is something in the universe stronger than him. And in all the universe, in things that are seen and unseen, there is nothing stronger than the Lord. He is the mighty one who holds the universe in his hand.

O my Great God, My awesome Lord, You are wonderful for you humble yourself to behold the things of the earth, yea to behold me. O praise his name all you servants of the Lord. Even though He dwells on high, yea the highest high and He is above all things, yet He humbles himself to behold the things on heaven and on the earth. How marvellous are your ways! I bow down before your greatness and worship you with all I am.

A prayer for my soul

O Lord, I surrender all of my ways to you. I give you my heart and my soul. I give you my praise and all that I am. I thank you for your endless patience with me, and despite my many promises that I have broken, yet you have not abandoned me. My soul rejoices at your faithfulness and your loving-kindness. I delight that your mercy is renewed each day. O, God of my heart and soul, please continue to lead me to do as you please. My joy is that You who began a good work in me will complete it to the end. I do not trust myself but I am entirely trusting You.
