I was greeted with such a smile
Which never I saw from any of Eve’s kind.
It was that of a sunflower’s bud
Which enlightened and calmed my storms.
Oh fair Lady, why so fine?
Why is my heart easily inclined
To pursue a Love I cannot gain
To only stand on slippery terrains?

A Prayer for my soul
Oh God leave me not to a backsliding heart
But keep me to the end
Work your sovereignty in me that you make me choose righteousness
I care not about my free-will
My only aim is to love you and glorify you because in that my heart is satisfied.
If I will not do it in my will over power it Lord, break down my wall, conquer my futile rebellion.

Miscellanies 23 - I do not belong in this place
My friend, lately it has come upon my soul, a great consideration that I do not belong in this place. I belong in a more fairer city where the atmosphere is forever fresh and there is no night and day. Trouble is long extinguished and sorrow is no longer to be found. I want away from this place, it is becoming too heavy for my soul; every avenue seems to me a lost road and every path a dead end. I live chiefly in my mind and that which I want the most I cannot attain. I find deep inside my heart those corrupt traits whose ends bring me misery of which I cannot alleviate. Oh help for this troubled sinner who wishes this hellish corruptions were forever done away with. I wish for them not to arise but they do, they appear like a ghost and feed a while, they drink and laugh at my own expense. I often have to fight it which is no pleasure to me at all and I could never extinguish their flames only dull it for a while. So I long for that summer city where these vices will not be known in any creatures living there - those who still possess such traits will be found somewhere else, a place not fitting for the most wicked devil. Oh, for help and grace; I need more constantly for the sake of my sanity that pure river to continually flow through my veins, that alien righteousness and its fruits. If I carry on riding through this troubled waves I should soon hit a rock lest I am taken by a purer current of righteousness.

The day when nations will no longer learn war
I am looking forward to the day when nations will no longer learn war nor teach it to their children. This horrible beast would at last be banished and locked up in that eternal dungeon reserved for the devil and his angels. He (war) has taken captive the lives of many men, made many wives into widows, left children fatherless, turned soldiers into rapist, countries into oppressive regimes. He has denied aid to the most desperate situations and overlooked the most basic human rights. He comes in the night as well as in the day -his terror is fearsome like a whirlwind it spins uncontrollably until satisfied. He is a mass murderer, all of his end is only in the destruction of people. Humanity his is enemy, like his father (the devil) he hates them bitterly and when he sees the opportunity arise in the hatred of men’s heart, he seizes it and encourages them to take up arms, to put on the clothes of oppression, to forget justice and love and strike under the cloak of ideology and terrorism. Famine becomes a friend, hunger a precious tool, disease a companion and death a joy. Everyday he rules with threats, unleashes despair and crushes the weak. Developments are forsaken, victory is the only cry, ethics is caged and he pronounces a free circulation of arms so that little kids may possess it. He commands the security of all resources, the oil, the diamonds, the power plants, the nuclear facilities, the research centres but abandons the hospitals, the orphanages, the elderly homes, the schools, and lives of all those not important to his will. He is a cruel tyrant, an horrible stench - he will fly abroad to make his name known, he regards no boundary, he is evil.
Some have said that war has a sister, a more friendly kind who only arise when her brother have entirely become blind to justice. She whets her sword, gathers her children and enlist for the battle. She rises for a just purpose, a reasonable cause and seeks to eliminate her brother’s dangerous threats. She has thought and considered, but unable to determine a better way to rid her brother of this vile course; so her hands is forced. She resorts to the same act, the same crimes but driven under the banner of justice. She is more tolerable but causes the same devastation but brings hope. She sigh and cries, she wields unwillingly and in all her struggles has yet to disarm her brother’s ways.
But the day will come when war will be locked away, eternally banished and never seen. He will be as a myth, a hideous dream, a terrible stench. That day shall be glorious, it shall be majestic, men from all the worlds will melt their arsenals, all bullets will be buried and every Kalashnikovs thrown into space. Freedom will return, ethics will be freed, peace will reign, righteousness will rule, love will be possessed by all and no rules would be found. Oh that the day of the return of our Lord Jesus may be quick and fast, come now Lord Jesus, Come quickly.

A possibility
When France encamped the British sea
With mighty waves of fearsome drills
Some did think to surrender a-quick
But others did hope in Wellington’s skill.
Or when Poor Jacob was deceitfully tricked
By his Father in law to be - He worked intensely
All the more - to gain his bride which began his charge.
Or when Bewolf that fearful beast at last
Did have a redeeming chance
To end his life a faithful King
Did overcome the temptation which made him ill.
Fresh courage in all this I take
A hope to keep and rest my head -
That though my love denies me now
The future shines because the sun still rise.

My head is sick my whole heart faints
My head is sick
Therefore my whole heart faints
From the sole of the foot to the head
No soundness remains
But bruises and sores.
Deadly was her blow
When she struck me down
Those few words launched
My sickness at hand.
My head is sick my whole heart faints.
Therefore my whole heart faints
From the sole of the foot to the head
No soundness remains
But bruises and sores.
Deadly was her blow
When she struck me down
Those few words launched
My sickness at hand.
My head is sick my whole heart faints.

An ordinary man
According to prophet Isaiah, Jesus was a man who had no beauty nor majesty that we should desire him or look at him. Jesus was simply one of many faces in first century Palestine. He was a carpenter which is the equivalent to our modern day computer analyst. When he was thirty he was unmarried, poor and unknown. Jesus was simply an ordinary man.
Now imagine that you were Jesus, and you knew that you was the Son of God who created everything seen and unseen. I’m sure that you would want to be anything else but ordinary - you would want to be a pop like sensation, everybody knowing who you are and desiring to live in fancy places and enjoy to the fullest the world which you made. Being a computer analyst would not do, having no beauty would insult you, limiting your majesty would frustrate you.
I’m sure as a man that you would want to be like a Van dam or Jack baur, a superhero, a top politician who is known for his rhetoric and charisma. You would take nothing from nobody. No one would dare to slap or insult you because you would throw them into prison, you would lord your authority over them; if someone spits in your face, you would defend your honour and when accusations are made against you, you would simply reveal their lies because you are able to do so.
But Jesus was an ordinary man. He would not fit today’s definition of masculinity, Hollywood would dismiss him, politicians would reject his philosophy, the religious would criticize him, and the world would shun him. It seems that when Jesus lived he did not live to please men or the world, he simply lived to please his Father, which freed him from meeting the demands to conform to the ways of man and of the world.
I think we need to think again and not be quick to dismiss the ordinary. When Jesus was twenty-two, I’m sure that he wasn’t worrying about his fame or his name being known, he didn’t care about what people was thinking of him and whether they had a good opinion of him; he wasn’t striving for worldly standard or attention but I’m sure he submitted and entrusted everything to his Father.
This ordinary man in time became the man who transformed the whole world because he simply did His Father’s will. According to worldly standard, Jesus was just ordinary, a peasant, an unknown carpenter from an obscure village, poor and reasonably educated. He was lacking in beauty and majesty and yet His character, words and deeds have changed the entire course of human history.
If you think your life is ordinary, rejoice, if you think you have no beauty, rejoice and entrust everything to God your Father and seek to imitate Jesus. Follow his example, his yoke is easy and you may not gain worldly reputation but you are gaining something far better which is the kingdom of God.
