The Physician

Christ is a physician, and He is the best there is. Whatever disease afflicts the believer, he has the remedy to heal. I have never known one stricken believer who is sealed with the Holy Spirit that did not enter heaven after death.

O poor Christian, are you sick? Come to the great physician who can heal your soul. Only come to him and trust him as you lay on your sickbed. Sleep well for it is Christ who is watching over you. He is a great physician that has never failed to heal a patient.

It is He who binds up the brokenhearted and washes away our sins. He restores our souls. Whatever soul surgery you are in need of, come to Christ who can restore both the body and the soul. See, He is a shepherd for his sheep, and if he would go through great troubles to find a lost sheep, how much more will he cater to those sheep that are sick and come to him for nourishment. I have never heard of Christ casting away the sick that came to him in humility. Such is His heart that He wept for those that bruised him.

And He prays for you and intercedes for you. What can death do but carry you into His everlasting presence. What can sickness do but bring you closer to His table where He will comfort you. O great physician my life is in your hands and unto you I commit my body and spirit.

Outreach

I went to a conference not too long ago, and at this conference, they went out to speak to people about the gospel. When we came back people began to say what had happened on their mission and many said that many believed and accepted Jesus. In speaking about the responses they emphasized the decision and the saying of the sinner's prayer.

The writings of Sunny Caane

Dear Sunny

The only way for me to meaningfully engage is to care and I must make sure that I care from the start; so when someone is talking to me, let me take deep care in their thoughts.

The writings of Sunny Caane

Dear Sunny

I saw recently, well about six months ago one whom my eyes beheld long ago. Her name now escapes me and I remember counseling her, well not that deep but more of an encouragement about her friend who passed away, and I comforted her with the word of God, telling her of His comfort and love. If I was to ask her what her fondest memory of me was, I wonder what she would say.

The sanity she gives

Her golden hair streamed in the glean of the pleasant rays-
Wonderful, wonderful, the birds marvel.
And my eyes swayed not from her engaging path -
O, for love, I am in love
And I fear ten million more are
Ebbed in the flows of her gratifying ways.
That I the lowest of them all,
Like grass the last to feel the sun's radiant warmth
Would receive only the residue of her light.
But fear not I, fear not I
For the moments of joy, enjoyed when in
Long or short, imagining our time,
Not in lust but love and trust,
Side by side, favouring God's dove upon us.
O, the sanity she gives
My Esther and Rachel
And I Abraham and Jacob to her!

A brave deep

She has a wonderful face
Artistic and elaborate in all her ways.
A brave deep lingers over me
To walk over and say what I want to say.

I cannot go beyond good and evil!

I'm looking for God
I'm looking for love.
I guess that God gave it
When He sent His only Son.
But did He die for me?
Did He live for me?
Or was I excluded?
Did he pass me by?
Did I really believe?
Or was my past enthusiasm
Just a product of my imagination.
Where are you O God,
If indeed you are alive -
Or was the mad man right
When he proclaimed that God has died.
If this is true - why can't I be
Free of my conscience?
I cannot go beyond good and evil!

Her beauty trails me

Her beauty trails me,
A tenfold pleasure to my soul.
I sigh and wonder,
What dream am I believing
To be believing in magic.
She is far beyond me
An unreachable figure
She awes me.
I would be wise and sensible
To give up any notion of a happy day.
For her to be mine
Would forever be my second eternal delight.

Love one another

Christ gave an explicit command to his disciples that they are to love one another just as he has loved them. This command is plain and simple and the end of it is the given of our physical lives for our brothers and sisters to the glory of God and the daily application of this is,  “do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.” We are also to work with each other for one another's joy. “Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm in your faith.”

Let me remember you, sweet love

Let me remember you, sweet love, now past
But dare I not dwell too long on the loveliness of your ways,
The many happy memories you gave me
How I felt a sweet nervousness around you
Always wanting to be a sweet taste to you.
It is all a distant time now
But your name and picture always cause me a moment of reflection.
If I should be in a conversation with you
What will you be thinking of me?
That I am still in love as you see my eyes searching yours with an ascetic devotion.
It is all curiosity,
I have long passed your shore
I have terminated all of my arguments to be yours
Nor would I take you now, for I have acquired other taste.
Its been many years and not a word between us
My silence is my respect
Nor do I hold cheap resentment,
But gladly I will die for you!

Come to God in prayer

It is wise and beneficial to always be in prayer to the Lord. I fear that many Christians have left off prayer and in doing so have neglected it to their own peril. Neglect of prayer is often a reflection of one's heart towards God. If I come to him often with my pleas and praise, and do that daily then I always have him in my heart and not only in my heart but I have the best thoughts about Him, namely that He is my father and that He loves me dearly and did not spare His only begotten Son, but gave Him up for me. This is good news and thus I come to Him boldly knowing that He cares for me. But I fear that there are many prodigal Christians who have been enticed by this world and thus indulged in her pleasures, and in coming to their senses are not so eager to run back to the Father's house where He is waiting to embrace them. So they leave off prayer and only pray once in a while and thus forfeited their own joy and live in a sorrowful state. If this is your current condition, know this, namely that all of your sins are forgiven and that you can come to God your father by the blood of His only Son through the eternal Spirit who resides in you. Yea, you can raise up your feeble hands or bow your head in humility and surrender and approach the throne of grace with confidence. Dedicate and surrender to Him all over again.

A man with a cross on his back is going to die

One thing that was certain in the time of our Lord Jesus Christ, is that a man with a cross on his back was going to die. He was carrying his cross to be crucified. There is no escaping it unless in the last hour he was pardoned. But that is extraordinarily to happen. He was certainly going to die. Christ calls all of his disciples to carry their cross daily if they will follow him. That is all of Christ's disciples are to carry their cross daily on their backs. They are to crucify all of their wills and desires and submit to his will. Their life is forfeited and crucified and they are to live entirely upon him and in him. Notice that this is to be done daily. Each day his disciples are going to Golgotha to crucify their flesh. They are to kill themselves in order to live for Christ. And in doing this daily is the Christian most happy and satisfied but many I must say sadly neglect their cross and rather than carrying it on their backs have made it their delight. for if they were to put the cross on their backs then they would feel its heaviness and misery and immediately go on that hill to put it down so that they can be crucified on it. But many Christians these days do not feel the heaviness of their own crosses and think that Christ will carry it for them when he has done it once and for all already. if they are to be happy in their daily lives then this is a necessity to crucify their own flesh and sit humbly before the heavenly Christ and do his bidding with great joy.

The woman was deceived but not the man

It is said that the woman was deceived by the devil and not the man. This means that Adam knew exactly what the devil's game was. Unlike the woman, he wasn't convinced by the serpent's word but knew it to be wrong whereas the woman was taken in by it. But why did he eat it when he knew that the devil was lying. It could only be to join in with the woman and rather than being alone he joined in with her. Perhaps the devil knew this that if he would have given the man the fruit, then the man would have rejected it. Perhaps he had tried it before but Adam told him to get behind him, but he went to the woman, and the woman having been convinced then gave to the man who could not reject his beloved. How often it is that many are persuaded by friends to do that which they know is wrong. But what would have happened if only the woman ate the fruit and Adam rebuked her for it? Would Eve be banished and another created for Adam and man would have passed his trial. I know not. Or if the man was deceived and the woman rebuked Adam for eating the fruit? Would Adam be banished and Eve remain in paradise? Whatever would have happened in both of those situations, God's judgment would be entirely righteous and without fault. But it is so that they both fell together and partook in the disobedience by eating the fruit. One did not abstain so both were entirely guilty and the ages testify to their guilt in their sons and daughters.

God is good

God is good and He is good all the time. I know sometimes our circumstances are not what we wish for and it is sometimes if not often what we don't like, but we must always remember that God is good and that He is Good. God has ordained all that will ever come to pass and in this, the Christian can have confidence that whatever happens to him/her it is all for their good. So whatever situation we find ourselves in we should learn to give thanks in the midst of sorrow. Rather than letting sorrow lead us into bitterness, let it drive us into the hands of God because He is our hope and our only hope. This life is brief compared to eternity, it is next to nothing compared to the eternal bliss we shall soon enjoy. The sunshine in paradise will last forever and there will be no more tears.
