Miserable weight

Where it for the sake of peace
I would have marched to the end
But it was a fool's errand
To die for a general who cowered in fear.
Dignity and grace go hand in hand
Victory and aim are two twins inclined,
Too stubborn to quit till the end.
Where it for the sake of peace I would not have sighed
But till the end, I must finish my task
And on my grave, place a cross
The government's weight was surely miserable to bear!
