I ought to be dedicated to excellence, that everything I do is done to the best of my ability. We ought to give all to God and do all as if we are doing it for Christ. And if we are doing it to such a master who expects the best from us morally, then it follows that he expects the best from us mentally and physically. Whatever good we find ourselves doing, then we should do it to the best of our strength. Worldly men exert all of their efforts to gain a perishing prize, we Christians are gaining an eternal prize, so we ought to even more as Christians, first to show the worthiness of our excellent Lord to receive our mercy and to show the world that there is a more excellent way in doing things.
O I pray that Christians will top every good thing in this world. We will be the best educators, the best scientist, the best in everything. And even if we cannot be the best, that is to be the number 1, at least our approach to it will not be second best.
