The Lord calls us to love. And to love is to go all-in for our neighbor. We are to meet their needs wherever we can. We are to love despite our feelings. I may feel some hatred towards a person for their evil act but it shouldn't prevent me from giving them a cup of water if they are thirsty. Love is to act. God did not have mere feelings towards us - His love was rooted in his action of sending his one and only Son to save us and reconcile us back to himself.
Who do I need to show love to today? That is a love of not mere thought but action. The hard truth is that love cost and it hurts but it is also sweet and the natural outpouring of a contented heart. Show me a person that is content in Christ and it is they who will love without expecting to be paid back. They know that their reward is in heaven and it is God who will reward them.
